Chaos Lizard Creations is a repository of open source games and game-development software written by me: Charles Lindsay. This website and all of my releases are hosted by sourceforge.net under project name chaoslizard.
This is everything I’ve written and given a home here. These creations are sorted under each category in descending order by approximate coolness.
| Game | Description | Last Release Date |
|---|---|---|
| Asteroids | A modern version of the arcade classic | 2005 Dec. 20 |
| Bomns | The bomb, with an N—a keyboard tapping frenzy of arcade-style cheese | 2002 Mar. 29 |
| Library | Description | Last Release Date |
|---|---|---|
| Nickel | A library for hierarchical maps and .ini files | 2008 Jan. 19 |
| glbmp | A bitmap image file loader written with OpenGL in mind (a partial glaux replacement, if you will) | 2005 Mar. 15 |
Don’t expect much from these except an implementation of Minimax.
| Game | Description | Last Release Date |
|---|---|---|
| Oth (ello) | The ancient board game of Othello or Reversi | 2005 Jan. 24 |
| Tai - Tic tac toe AI | A project combining Tic Tac Toe (Noughts and Crosses?) with AI | 2005 Jan. 18 |
When sourceforge changed service providers, they mucked with their web server architecture AGAIN, causing this site to become inaccessible for a few weeks there. Apologies; we’re back now. That’s all.
I’ve updated some lacking aspects of Nickel and released Nickel v1.1.0. I’ve even finally written all the documentation for it! No excuses: start using hierarchical .ini files, now.
I’m finally releasing Nickel, a library for hierarchical maps and .ini files. Check it out!
chaoslizard [at] gamebox [dot] net is no more. I was too lazy to actually update all the source files in any of my releases (with the exception of glbmp). Use charles [at] chaoslizard [dot] org instead.
So, it’s been over a year since this site has seen updates. Don’t worry, I haven’t moved on. I’ve been busy trying to finish school (May!) and working on pet projects elsewhere. Anything release-worthy and game-related will show up here, for certain.
At some point in the future, I’m going to ditch the chaoslizard [at] gamebox [dot] net email address. I get too much spam there, and have too little control over it. Slowly, I’m going to edit it out of every page on this site, and all the source files it appears in. Or that’s the plan anyway. I’ll let you know how that goes. Start using my new email address from now on: charles [at] chaoslizard [dot] org. Thanks.
2007 Jan. 21 Update: I’ve finished changing every occurrence of the old email address on the site I think. The old one is still in the source files, but I’m too lazy to fix all that right now. I’ve already gotten rid of an even older email address (toxite [at] gamebox [dot] net), so don’t email me there (I don’t think it was still referenced anywhere, so it’s cool), but for now chaoslizard [at] gamebox [dot] net still works. BUT IT WON’T SOON!
What one feature is Asteroids lacking most? No, not bikini babes. SOUND. Well guess what! It’s not lackin’ no more. Due mostly to a contribution/patch from a Scott Barr, I was able to add sound to the game. Read more about it here.
If you have questions or need help, the first place to look is the questions page. Anyone can post questions and answers there (and I’ll do my best to keep things accurate and up to date). If you have something direly important, feel free to email me: charles [at] chaoslizard [dot] org.
